Places to indulge on International No Diet Day

JOBURG - International No Diet Day on 6 May represents a day for the world to be happy with themselves, inside and out.

This day is celebrated once a year the world over and is a day for you to throw out that dreaded diet (or forever).

The day promotes body acceptance, fat acceptance, body shape diversity and focuses on health at any size and weight. It also aims to raise awareness about the dangers of extreme dieting, and the low chance of success.

Wear a light blue ribbon on this day and walk proudly into your favourite eatery for some good mood food for the soul and the tastebuds.

Here are five of the most indulgent treats that you can find around Joburg North on No Diet Day:

  1. Post in Braamfontein sells their own homemade brownies topped with decadent Lindt chocolate. Although this brownie doesn’t look particularly dark or chocolatey, it is, in fact, an envelope of chocolate encasing a gooey middle filled with nuts.
  2. The Whippet in Illovo serves mouth-watering mozarella stuffed burger patties, called the Whippet Burger. It’s not too cheesy and is perfectly juicy – with no need for basting or sauces because themozarella filling is perfectly indulgent.
  3. Wits Art Museum in Braamfontein, apart from serving great homestyle lunches, sells a number of baked goods including the sinful pecan pie. The pie, although sold cold, when warmed is pecan delight that can only be described as having a thick and creamy fudge centre, encased in glorious pie pastry
  4. Chateau Gateaux Patisserie in Illovo serves up a delicate fudge Picasso for their customers. It’s a white chocolate mousse, loaded with chunks of velvet-smooth fudge, coated in a white chocolate ganache and drizzled with milk chocolate all over
  5. Finally, indulge in a Pink Velvet Cupcake from Belle’s Patisserie.

This delicious cupcake sponge is topped with a cream cheese filling – and with all the glitter, it’s every girl’s dream.
