The SA Top Gear show becomes Clarkson, Hammond and May Live

JOBURG - The much-anticipated Top Gear event has announced that sacked presenter, Jeremy Clarkson, will remain part of the tour, but it is for the same reason that it will no longer be held as a Top Gear event.

It has been a big concern for South African Top Gear fans as to what the fate of the show would be after Clarkson was released from the show, following an incident between the presenter and a producer of the show.

It has officially been announced that the theatre show will continue as planned, with the only change being that it has been renamed to Clarkson, Hammond and May Live.

This change has come about due to the fact that Clarkson had committed to a number of shows and events before the incident caused him to be released from the Top Gear team.

Another huge announcement has been made regarding theatre show, is that a guest appearance will be made by international rally driving phenomenon and YouTube sensation, Ken Block.

The ‘motoring hooligan’ will be on his worst behaviour with his best driving skills during his first visit South Africa.

Block will attempt a gymkhana – a type of motorsport similar to autocross in which the goal is to achieve the fastest time possible – live in his iconic 845bhp, modified all-wheel-drive 1965 ‘notchback’ Ford Mustang Hoonicorn.

This year’s extravaganza will create a rip-roaring playground at the Coca Cola Dome in Northgate, suitable for burning rubber with the ultimate motoring menace, Block

“I’m stoked to have been invited by Clarkson, Hammond and May to this massive motoring event,” said Block.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with these guys before and it’s always been a lot of fun.”
