Walking with class in Hyde Park

HYDE PARK - Top class whisky brand Johnnie Walker Blue Label has opened the exclusive Eighteen05 bar at the Saxon Hotel in Hyde Park.

The opening of the bar, which is named after the year Johnnie Walker was born, was celebrated with an exclusive event on 16 April which included attendance from media industry leaders media and an exclusive performance by South African Jazz legend Vusi Mahlasela and blues guitar virtuoso Dan Patlansky in a rare collaboration to create a unique sound that mirrors the Johnnie Walker Blue Label experience.

Johnnie Walker brand ambassador Tom Jones said, “Johnnie Walker Blue Label is the pinnacle whisky in the Johnnie Walker stable.”

He added, “Its rarity, heritage and exclusivity ensure it’s a clear choice for those in the know: global leaders and cultural cognoscenti.”

Avukile Mabombo, marketing manager of Brandhouse reserves, said, “Encapsulating the stylish, centuries-old history of Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Eighteen05 is a first for the continent, offering a rare glimpse into the rich history and culture of the brand. Accessible through The Saxon Hotel, Eighteen05 is a space where heritage, tradition and master craftsmanship come together to encapsulate authentic luxury, elegance and sophistication.”

Mabombo said the hotel’s image aligned perfectly with the Johnnie Walker brand and added, “The hotel is known not only for sophistication and discretion, being the destination of choice for film stars, politicians and business leaders, but also for its continued commitment to excellence in food and drink.”
