SA pizza champ crowned
SANDTON- CHEF Reshma Madhav of Four Seasons Hotel, Westcliff walked away with overall pizza champion prize at Hostex 2015.
This after wowing judges and audiences with her four-mushroom three-cheese pizza at Africa’s leading international trade fair for hospitality and catering.
“Pizza making is a distinguished, passionate and noble livelihood,” said Martin Kobald, Global Pizza Challenge organiser.
“We are thrilled at the creativity and quality of pizza that came out of the competition today, and are certain that these creations and certainly the winners, will go far in helping to advance pizza’s quality, diversity and popularity globally.”
Kobald added that the challenge was run in 16 countries and was designed to promote a passion for pizza-making with pizzazz, and to introduce a whole new spectrum of innovative pizzas to the pizza-loving world.
The pizzas were judged on their originality, balance, creativity, and most importantly, on their ‘excitement factor’ by the panel of internationally-recognised chef judges.
