Post office go slow on hold

JOBURG – Post Office workers belonging to the Communications Workers Union had to suspend their intended go-slow from 15 February due to their employers applying for a court interdict.

The union’s deputy general secretary Thabo Mogalane said, “The company had applied for the court interdict so our members are not on go-slow yet. We will only know tomorrow on 6 March as to when our members can go on a go-slow.”

This would be the latest disruption to hit the Post Office in the wake of last year’s three-month long strike by staff demanding a 15 percent salary hike and permanent posts.

The union’s Clyde Mervin said they would hold meetings in all nine provinces in the coming week to decide on a mandate for a full-on strike. “Once we get out of these imbizo’s we will be giving the company the date of our action in terms of the phase two process,” he said.
