Driver evades Metro police; crashes into motorcyclist

HURLINGHAM - Emer-G-Med paramedics reported that a VW Polo collided with a motorcyclist on the corner of William Nicol Drive and Stirling Road on the afternoon of 27 February.

This was reported on Emer-G-Med’s Facebook page.

The paramedics said Metro police officers attempted to pull over a speeding motorist, who was driving a VW Polo. The driver tried to outrun the Metro police and drive through a red traffic light and collided with a motorcycle, leaving the rider injured.

The paramedics said Emer-G-Med transported the injured motorbike rider to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital and analgesia was given to the patient prior to transportation.

Metro police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar confirmed that the accident took place just before 1pm on 27 February and said that Metro police were investigating.
