Rehabilitation of George Lea South at a standstill

PARKMORE - The rehabilitation of George Lea South Park is at a standstill.

This according to Heather Oosthuizen, a concerned resident who has been keeping a close watch on the development taking place at the park.

She has escalated her concerns about the park to City Parks, and Ward 90 councillor, Anthony Still. Oosthuizen believes City Parks has made some empty promises about its plans for the park.

“The broken bollards have not been attended to and lately the gate has been standing wide open as well,” she explained. Oosthuizen added that the park was accessible to vehicles and this had damaged the grass.

She was also concerned that the uncontrolled conditions at the park would lead to the bigger issue of illegal dumping.

No comment was received from City Parks at the time of publication.
