Two-year anniversary of Reeva’s death

JOBURG - THE 14 of February marks the 2nd anniversary of Reeva Steenkamp's death.

Oscar Pistorius was arrested for a shooting that took place at his residence in Pretoria on the 14 February 2013.

It emerged that he had shot and killed his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. The tragic event shocked the global community with news platforms around the world gasping for the latest information regarding the matter.

14 February 2013: News breaks that Oscar Pistorius has shot and killed his girlfriend at his home in Pretoria.

15 February 2013: Pistorius appears in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court, State prosecutors announce that they intend to persue a charge of premeditated murder. The bail hearing is set for 19 February.

19 February: Reeva Steenkamp’s funeral is held in Port Elizabeth.

22 February: Pistorius’s is granted R1-million bail by the Pretoria Magistrates Court.

4 June 2013: The trial is postponed to 19 August 2013.

19 August 2013: An indictment is served on Pistorius, the trial date is confirmed to take place on 3 March 2014 at the Pretoria High Court.

3 March 2014: Trial begins at the Pretoria High Court.

5 May 2014: Pistorius is accused of intimidating Kim Myers who originates from Sydenham, she was a close friend of Reeva’s.

12 September 2014: The Court dismisses much of the State’s circumstantial evidence against Pistorius. Judge Thokozile Masipa states that the State failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Pistorius is guilty of premeditated murder. Pistorius is however found guilty of the lesser charge of culpable homicide.

13 October2014: Pistorius is sentenced a maximum of five years in prison.

14 February 2015: The two-year anniversary of Reeva’s death.
