The ceremony will be held at Norscot Recreation Centre on 18 February at 6pm.
Spokesperson Jo Warden said that the organisation would be delighted if the Norscot community could join them in the unveiling celebration, which will also be attended by Ward 115 councillor Chris Santana and representatives from City of Joburg.
“For us here at Fon, it’s so wonderful to finally have Norscot Manor on the heritage map,” stated Warden.
Santana also shared his enthusiasm about the heritage status. “This has been a great achievement by the community to ensure the longevity of Norscot Manor. Receiving heritage status from the City has been the first step in our goal to have it declared a national heritage site in future.”
The councillor continued to explain that through community efforts and receiving the blue plaque standing, they are now able to protect one of Norscot’s most prized assets. It will also prevent unwanted developments on the property which could be unfavourable to its iconic and historic value.
Refreshments will be served at the ceremony. Those wanting to attend should note that limited space is available and they are advised to arrive early.
