Chef Siba launches cooking show in Bryanston

BRYANSTON - Food Network and DStv launched celebrity chef Siba Mtongana’s third season of her cooking show, Siba’s Table in Bryanston.

Guests were invited to a sneak peak of the new Siba’s Fast Feasts episodes and to dig into some of her delicious fast feasts which will be the theme for her new show.

Food Network was also celebrating Mtongana’s success with the show overseas. Nick Thorogood from Food Network said, “Siba has become vastly famous. She is rated number one in Poland and the United Kingdom. We are very proud of her success.”

Thorogood added that Mtongana is the first South African to have her show on American television.

Mtongana said she gets inspiration for some of her dishes from her love of travel. She said she uses her food to travel the world. Mtongana was recently in Dubai and managed to put together a meal inspired by that trip. “I like food to take me elsewhere,” she said. “I’ve travelled, but not as much so with cooking. I can travel through my food.”

She was asked to respond to some of her critics who say she does not cook enough South African traditional foods and she said, “I take traditional food and I give it my va-va-voom. I try to make traditional food very easy, simple, accessible and fun because it is usually considered to take long to prepare and boring.”
