Two arrested following cellphone robbery

BUCCLEUCH - The Sandton police successfully arrested two suspects following a robbery in Buccleuch.

According to Captain Kym Cloete, spokesperson for the Sandton police, the incident took place on 10 January at about 6.40pm.

“A woman was walking along Buccleuch Drive when she was approached by two unknown males who threatened her with a knife before demanding her cellphone, which they made off with,” she said.

Cloete added that, following an investigation, police officers managed to arrest the two suspects, one in Braamfontein and the other in Midrand.

The suspects were then charged with robbery with other weapon and were detained at the Sandton Police Station.

Both suspects appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 14 January.
