Freedom Ride to hit Sandton again

JOBURG - Aimed at highlighting the use of bicycles as a form of transport within the city, the social Freedom Ride is set to hit Sandton again.

The race, a cycle ride which also aims to celebrate the spirit and legacy of Nelson Mandela, will take place on 22 March at 8am outside the Sandton Convention Centre on Maude Street.

The cycle ride will include an entire week of cycling events, from small scale cycling activation rides, a cycling conference, to cycling campaigns, all of which will culminate with the Freedom Ride.

The cycle is organised by the City of Johannesburg, the Joburg Urban Cyclists Association, Qhubeka, Linkd Environmental Services and the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport, and is also aimed at bringing people back into the city in addition to promoting the use of bicycles.
