Motorists lose car batteries to theft

SANDHURST - Motorists in Marlboro and Sandhurst have been victims of stolen car batteries.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police, said both victims in Marlboro and Sandhurst claimed to have had their motor vehicles locked. “After returning to their vehicles, where they had parked them, they realised their batteries were removed,” explained Maphakela.

He warns residents to ensure that they check up on their motor vehicles and keep them locked at all times. “Criminals not only steal vehicles, but also strip their parts to sell,” he explained. “Be vigilant and secure your vehicles.”

Maphakela said the vehicle in Sandhurst also had the gear box and the clutch stolen from the Fiat Palio. “The motor vehicle in Marlboro was a white Opel Astra which also had the rear glass window broken into,” added Maphakela. He said the car was parked inside an open yard.

The Bramley police took finger prints. No arrests have been made.
