Police arrest man with outstanding warrants

SANDTON - A suspect with outstanding warrants was arrested last week by the Sandton police.

The suspect, a 39-year-old male, was apprehended in the early morning hours of 19 November by members of the Detective Tracing Unit.

Captain Kym Cloete, spokesperson of the Sandton police, said police officers from the unit were following up on information and managed to arrest the suspect in Orlando East following six outstanding warrants of arrest.

“The suspect started stealing goods in the Sandton area from February 2009 [and] during this period he stole goods to the approximate value of R3400,” she said. The suspect appeared in court this week.

Cloete cautioned residents to report any suspicious behaviour at shops to the local security or manager as shoplifting is a crime.
