Ruff Riders raise funds to help animals in Alex

SANDTON - The Ruff Riders team managed to raise over R42 000 on behalf of the Sandton SPCA at the 947 Momentum Cycle Challenge.

The charity team took part in the cycle challenge for the second year in a row and according to Candice Scorer, general manager of the Sandton SPCA, did the race to raise funds for work done in Alexandra.

“The combined efforts of this wonderful group raised money for our shelter and this money will be put towards a spay fund for animals in the area, in order for us to work on the rising issue of breeding and over population in our community,” she said.

The team donned their Ruff Riders shirts and braved the tough course this year with the help of various sponsors. The cycle challenge took place at the River Sands commercial park on 16 November.

Scorer said the organisation will also be running another charity race next year and invites all animal lovers to participate and help make a bigger impact next year.
