This, according to Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police who said Sector 3 and 4 were the main areas targeted by the robbers. “We are appealing to the community members living in Sandhurst, Athol, Hyde Park, Illovo, Birnam, Melrose Arch and the Sandown areas to be alert,” said Maphakela.
He explained that there were four vehicles that were spotted lurking in the area. Community members are warned to look out for a blue Lexus with a false number plate, a silver Honda Ballade, a black Mercedes Benz and a gold 540 Volvo.
Maphakela said the suspects’ modus operandi to follow residents to their homes remained the same. “They target you from the shops, petrol stations and the ATMs,” said Maphakela.
“Before you stop outside your house, make sure that you are not being followed. If you suspect that you are being followed, contact the police immediately or drive to the nearest police station for safety.”
