Educate yourself on World Diabetes Day

JOBURG - The International Diabetes Federation (www.idf.org) estimates that the current worldwide population of some 382 million people with diabetes will increase to over 590 million during the next 20 years. That’s one in every 10 adults!

The statistics are staggering both worldwide and here in South Africa and with World Diabetes Day approaching on 14 November, the Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology (CDE) would like to invite you to attend their World Diabetes Day event.

The CDE will be hosting an educational and informative programme at its Johannesburg premises in Houghton, with free diabetes screening and educational talks on offer. An exciting highlight of the day will be an appearance by Kingumba Florent (Flo) Simba, former IBO heavyweight boxer, who will participate in a presentation about diabetes and exercise. This will be followed by demonstrations of exercise that can improve health, not only for people with diabetes, but the whole family as well. Free screening to assess your risk of diabetes will be available with diabetes professionals on hand to explain the results and answer any questions.

The World Diabetes day will be held at 81 Central Street, Houghton. For more details visit the CDE Centre website at www.cdecentre.co.za
