Baby elephant run over by speeding motorist

BRYANSTON - Bryanston resident and e-block watch founder, Andre Snyman, has taken to social media pleading to all South Africans to help find a motorist who ran over a baby elephant in the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe.

The motorist was allegedly speeding and the elephant apparently had to be shot due to its injuries. Snyman posted a video on Facebook of the baby elephant after it had been hit and the footage shows the herd trying to help the injured animal.

One Facebook user, Debbie Baker said, “Oh this is just so so sad. Poor baby ellie. I hope this swine is found, or may karma visit him/her in the form of a truck running over him/her breaking the back and leg and get left to suffer.”

The video angered many Facebook users on the e-block watch group who called for the motorist to be held responsible.

Another e-block watch member Craig Coetzer said, “I can’t watch this video, this makes me so upset and raging mad. I cannot for the life of me understand why someone would visit a game park and then drive with excessive speed… Game viewing is supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable event done very casually and slowly, why drive fast?”

As of yet no one has any knowledge regarding the identity of the driver. E-block watch group member Adrie Bergsma commented, “I cannot watch the mother’s pain. She wants so much for that baby to just get up. I hope that person who did this doesn’t sleep at night. So cruel.”
