Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Lungilo Dlamini said the two suspects would be taken to Kempton Park Police Station.
Dlamini said the suspects would be charged for attempted murder, being in possession of an unlicenced firearm and attempted robbery.
The suspects were loaded into the police van at around 12.30pm on 30 October. They were arrested at around 10am on 30 October.
The suspects hijacked a black Jeep but crashed into the bridge on Maxwell Drive; which was recovered.
The suspects then attempted to hijack a silver Golf GTI, which was also recovered.
Traffic was heavily backed up after the incident but by 12.30, traffic returned to a normal flow.
No one was injured in the shootout although the suspects shot at the police and police returned fire.
