Girls show how it’s done at karate trials

PETER PLACE - Pupils from St Stithians Girls' Preparatory School won medals at the Ekurhuleni Karate Trials.

Claudia Dobson (12) and Emma O’Gorman (9) performed at their best and showed off their skills.

The two competed with other pupils from various schools in the trials, which took place at Wits Education Campus.

Dobson was placed in first place for her performance in kata and kumite, which are features of karate. She performed exceptionally well and won double gold at the trials.

O’Gorman was placed third for kata and kumite, winning double bronze.

The pupils have their regional colours for the year and will go on to compete at the Gauteng Karate Federation Trials on 18 October for their provincial colours.
