Adventure Day for Cub Scouts
SANDTON - Cub Scouts from Sandton participated in the annual Cub Adventure Day which took place at Delta Park.
The theme for the event was “At the Movies”. According to the event organiser, Rochelle Booyens, more than 400 Cubs from Scout Groups situated all over the Johannesburg and Pretoria region, participated in the day.
Each activity on the day was based on a movie theme. The movies ranged from having a George of the Jungle obstacle course, to making model trebuchets to shoot down dragons in the movie How to Train Your Dragon. The Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom scene had Cubs eating make-believe worms and retrieving gold coins out of a number of squishy-gooey substances.
Sherlock Homes and Dr Watson were also on hand to help solve another mystery, while the Lego base kept children entertained for hours. Another popular activity was the Quidditch game, taken from the Harry Potter movies.
“Judging from the tired but happy faces at the end of the afternoon, a great day out was had by all who attended,” said Booyens. “A clear indication that Scouting has something to offer the whole family – including adults.”
