Learn more about Alzheimers and Dementia

JOBURG - Enerjoy is hosting a free introductory seminar called Skills Training for Families of People with Alzheimer’s and Dementia for World Alzheimers Day.

Enerjoy is a health-centred coaching and skills training organisation that helps families with mothers and father suffering from dementia through specialised training built on educating the family on the topic and how to deal with it.

Enerjoy business manager Shem Bolel said, “There is a great deal of ignorance when it comes to dementia and Alzheimers, and when a family member begins to develop the illness the entire family structure is disrupted. So what we try and do is teach families to mentally stimulate their parents who suffer from the illnesses.”

Dementia is now a global issue, and with the increasing and relentless trauma suffered by family members, there is an urgent need for increased access to appropriate support and relevant knowledge.

The launch will highlight the full program for families, which will consist of six fortnightly sessions covering topics aimed at giving family members practical skills to care for themselves, responding effectively to the challenges of their affected family member, maximising the existing cognitive capacity of the patient through appropriate stimulation, and minimising the trauma of the disease for all concerned.

The seminar will be on Sunday, 21 September at Lifeline Conference Centre, Norwood from 2.30 to 5.30pm.
