Field and Study repair jungle gym

RIVERCLUB - The Riverclub Field and Study have renovated their jungle gym giving children a safe place to play.

Chairperson of the Friends of Field and Study, Rose Johnson said the organisation, who over look the park with City Parks, raised R6000 to completely renovate the jungle gym. She added, “We replaced the poles to make the jungle gym safe. We also added a layer of creosote to the wood which will preserve it for about six to eight years.”

Ward 103 councillor Vincent Earp said, “A lot of children go to the park every weekend to play on the jungle gyms there; the work the Friends of Field and Study are doing – with the very limited resources they have – is fantastic.”

Spokesperson for City Parks, Jenny Moodley said that The Friends of Field and Study mark a very important partnership between the City entities and the community, and have done an incredible job over the years in helping City Parks maintain the Field and Study.

She said, “I think partnerships such as the one between the organisation and City Parks is valuable as it builds civic involvement.”
