VIDEO: Woman steals man’s wallet inside police station

SANDTON - Shadrack Moloi had his wallet stolen at the Sandton Police Station.

He was at the police station to certify documents when an unidentified woman took it. The entire incident was documented on the station’s CCTV.

Captain Kym Cloete, spokesperson for the Sandton police said no arrest had been made. Cloete explained, “The woman left no evidence for us to trace who she is or where she is from. We are investigating.”

Cloete added that there was no warrant of arrest issued by the police yet.

Moloi said he had R2 400 inside his wallet, bank cards, his ID as well as his driver’s licence.

“From the footage you can see that I was in a hurry, I took my papers and cellphone from the front desk table, but I forgot to take my wallet,” added Moloi.

“The woman saw that I left my wallet but she does not call me back or say anything to me or the woman assisting her at the police station.”

On the footage, the woman is seen packing up her documents and taking Moloi’s wallet before leaving the police station.

Moloi said he had a short conversation with the woman before the theft incident as they were both waiting to have their documents certified.

He explained that the woman appeared to be in her late forties, she had reddish-brown hair and she was alone at the police station.
