Eco-fabulous in Sandton

KRAMERVILLE - Detergent company, Skip hosted its second instalment of its Fashion Exchange at Katy's Palace in Kramerville.

The event marks the company’s promotion of eco-friendly clothing by giving fashionable women the opportunity to bring in three high-class items of clothing and exchange them for others. The first event was held at Urban Tree in Kramerville and each event has a different theme corresponding to the company’s brand colours which are violet, teal and white.

Brand manager of the company, Kerry Cuppusamy said the concept of exchanging fashion began in the United Kingdom where women would hold parties for the sole reason of exchanging clothing and accessories.

Cuppusamy added, “The concept behind the Skip Fashion Exchange is a ‘eco-fabulous’ and cost-effective way do to shopping. For someone to refresh their wardrobe is very expensive, so this event gets like-minded women together and exchange clothes, but also to mingle with each other and network.”

One participant Slindi Mhlongo said, “I think this is a such a great event. Its actually quite exciting, seeing that you don’t know what you’re going to get. Its keeping me on the edge of my seat giving my clothes and wondering if I get something better.”

PR manager for Magna-Carta, Jill Snijman said, “The key insight is that everyone women here has something in their wardrobe that they love, but it either no longer fits them or its no longer appropriate. So what this whole event is about is to give women the opportunity to use their clothes as currency. What’s great about the concept is that its completely environmentally friendly and also budget friendly.”

The women were treated to a full course meal and an incredible performance from kwaito group Mi Casa.
