Resident warns of hijackings in Buccleuch

BUCCLEUCH - Concerned resident, Johnny Lawrence has alerted Buccleuch residents about an alleged series of hijacking incidents.

“Already there have been two hijackings in Buccleuch,” said Lawrence.

He explained that a white BMW allegedly followed a woman as she was driving home. “As she was at the gate waiting for it to open, she was hijacked, this happened around 6pm,” Lawrence said.

He added that the two alleged hijackings took place in the same manner.

Lawrence alleged that the victims were robbed of their money and their car keys were taken.

He added, “Please spread the message [to] all residents, it’s very sad if children are going to be involved. People must just be vigilant and keep alert and aware of their surroundings.”

Captain Kym Cloete, the Sandton police spokesperson said there was a reported hijacking incident in the area. However, she said the hijacking occurred in Kramerville and not in Buccleuch. She encouraged residents to report any crime to the police.
