Top honours for Brescia House School pupils

SANDTON - Three Brescia House School pupils were awarded the prestigious white honours blazer.

Wandile Dlamini, Rebecca Meeser and Nadia Johnstone have proven to the school that they are most worthy and respected recipients of the honour.

To receive this award, a pupil needs to achieve no fewer than four different awards, or they need to be selected to the highest level of a national team at school.

The selection must also be supported by subsequent participation in an officially recognised international event.

Helga Bishop of the school said Dlamini was an example of someone who had grasped, with both hands, the opportunities that presented themselves at Brescia House School. “She has a sound academic record and in 2013 she achieved full colours for academics,” added Bishop.

She said Dlamini was recognised for her excellent leadership ability this year and was awarded full leadership colours. “Overall, this young lady excels in all that she undertakes,” said Bishop.

She said Meeser had also been awarded full leadership and academic colours. “However, her true talent lies in the dressage arena where she was awarded her full colours for equestrian in 2012, 2013 and 2014 for her sustained excellent standard of riding,” explained Bishop.

Johnstone has represented her school in public speaking competitions and earned full colours for public speaking last year.

Bishop said in the debating society, Johnstone had served as a role model, an inspiring trainer and was a hard worker. “Her achievements and contributions to debating have made her a worthy recipient of her full colours for debating in 2012 and again in 2014,” added Bishop. “She has also represented her school in public speaking competitions, achieving excellent results, resulting in a full colours award this year.”
