Creative youngster wins trip to the USA

BRYANSTON - Adrian Joubert (11) won the 2014 Nestle Smarties box-a-thon competition.

This after the competition’s finalists had their creations on display for the judges at the Nestle head office in Bryanston.

With over 1 000 entries from across the country, Joubert from Hennops Park won himself and his family a trip to the United States of America. Joubert and his family will be jetting off to Florida, after his out-of-this-world spider, completed with enormous fangs and antennae, won over the judges.

After much deliberation and many other astounding entries, all contestants left the judges in awe of what can be achieved with the Smarties packaging.

Kristly McCarthy on behalf of Nestle said, “Entries included a dragon-inspired creature with teeth bared and scales upright, out-of-this-world Smarties robots and aliens, as well as a life-size fairy princess complete with her very own castle.”

Nestle business executive manager, Zanele Mthethwa said, “The objective was to encourage creative expression among all primary school learners while teaching them that learning is fun, colourful and rewarding.”
