Woman (85) tied up for three days

MORNINGSIDE MANOR - Bramley police spokesperson Warrant officer Moses Maphakela confirmed that a woman was tied up in her house by two suspects and left in her bed for three days.

Maphakela said the woman sustained bruises on her mouth after the two suspects tied her stockings around her head.

Paramedics treated her at her home on 1 August.

He said the woman lives alone and her children live overseas.

1 August, 11.25am:

The woman (85) was found by her gardener at 7am on 1 August.

Maphakela said the incident took place in Morningside Manor on 30 July. One male suspect approached the woman while she was in her study and demanded her cell phone. Another suspect then joined and they proceeded to tie the woman up. He said the woman is not injured but visibly traumatised.

A case of house robbery has been reported at Bramley Police Station and Maphakela said police are currently looking for the two suspects.

1 August, 10.41am:

A woman was allegedly tied up for three days and left severely dehydrated in a house in Morningside.

According to reports, paramedics allegedly made the shocking discovery and promptly attended to the woman.

Police detectives arrived at the scene but it remains unclear whose house it is or why the woman was tied up and left in the house.

Paramedics are currently treating her and more information and updates are to follow.
