Wear your slippers for charity on Slipper Day

WOODMEAD - The Reach for a Dream Foundation prepared for their Reach For Your Slippers campaign in Woodmead on 25 July.

The campaign aims to raise funds and awareness about children fighting life-threatening illnesses.

South Africans are encouraged to wear their slippers on 1 August and show their support and solidarity for the foundation’s Slipper Day.

A R10 sticker can be purchased from any Wimpy nationwide or from the foundation, which has seven branches across the country. Stickers are also available from Hirsch’s, Makro and Wakaberry stores.

Bronwyn Feldwick-Davis of Reach for a Dream Foundation said, “For 26 years, Reach for a Dream has dedicated itself to making dreams come true. The aim of the foundation is to give each child hope and encouragement. We bring joy and laughter into their difficult situation and help them believe that tomorrow is worth fighting for.”

Some of the children from Soweto were treated to a day of shopping for slippers at Makro, lunch at Wimpy and frozen yogurt from Wakaberry.

“Wimpy is proud to be part of this wonderful campaign and we urge all South Africans to step into a Wimpy nearby to purchase their R10 stickers,” said Wimpy brand manager, Karabo Morudu.

The Slipper Day campaign is also supported by celebrity ambassadors DJ Fresh, Toya Delazy and Janez Vermeiren.
