Water cuts in Sandton become a cause for concern

RIVERCLUB - Water cuts are forcing a Riverclub resident to purchase water.

Garth Hollidge is livid that he now has to buy water every morning because of water cuts in his area.

He said, “Johannesburg Water will not even consider the fact that they cut our water during the month; we will still get the same bill.”

Johannesburg Water has announced on their website that Sandton is one of the areas affected by water interruptions due to infrastructure upgrades.

On 30 July, Sandhurst will undergo infrastructure upgrades and this will result in no water in Jutland Place, between Cleveland Road and Dead End.

Hollidge is most concerned that when he calls Johannesburg Water to find out when the water interruptions will end, no one seems to know. “They need to at least tell us when they will fix the problem so that we know when we can go on with our lives,” he said.

Johannesburg Water has apologised to residents in the affected areas and promised to have the interruptions resolved as soon as possible.

On 30 July, @jhbwater tweeted, “Please note, there was a problem with the PRV affecting water supply in Riverclub and Benmore areas. Team is done with repairs.”

Johannesburg Water also tweeted that service disruptions will continue in Sandown and Sandhurst from 9am to 3.30pm on 30 July.

This is a developing story and we will have more information as it comes in.
