Resident catches truck dumping illegally

WENDYWOOD - A resident caught a truck dumping illegally in Wendywood.

The resident who does not wish to be named said the incident occurred at the bottom of South Road. “It was along the river, at the intersection of Bowling and South roads,” she explained.

Ward 109 councillor Lillian Kekana said she would follow up on the incident and track down the owner of the truck.

“Unfortunately there is no legislation when it comes to illegal dumping,” said Superintendent Ignus Jona of the Metro police. “The only thing we can do is issue a fine.”

Wayne Minnaar, Metro police spokesperson said truck owners who did not comply with the law would have their trucks confiscated. “We are going to clamp down hard on illegal dumping,” added Minnaar.

Minnaar and Jona encourage residents to report illegal dumping to the Metro police.
