School girl robbed on her way to school

ATHOLL - A pupil was threatened with a kitchen knife and had her school bag as well as R100 stolen in Atholl.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, the Bramley police spokesperson, said the pupil’s mother opened a case of robbery on behalf of her daughter.

“The school girl was on her way to school when two suspects approached her,” explained Maphakela. He said the men were both dressed in blue overalls.

“One of the suspects who had a light complexion and a scar [near] his left eye, took out a kitchen knife and instructed the girl to give him her cellphone,” said Maphakela. “The girl said she didn’t have it with her. The other suspect then took the girl’s school bag filled with text books and work books.”

Maphakela said the suspects also took R100 from the girl’s pocket and ran away.

No arrests have been made.
