Nelson Mandela Square’s 67 blankets knit-a-thon

SANDTON - Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton teamed up with 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela, and Servest for a knit-a-thon challenge.

A call to action was issued for everyone to join the knitting movement that has captured the attention of thousands of citizens across the world.

Needles and wool were provided on 13 July at the Nelson Mandela Square for volunteers who participated in the knit-a-thon challenge.

From 12 noon to 3pm, people created blankets for the less fortunate.

Various artists such as Timothy Moloi, Michael Themba, Cito, Michael De Pinna and Jacques Lagesse joined the drive to entertain the crowd.

Completed blankets will be delivered to Itlhokomeleng Association for the Aged and Disabled Home in Alexandra on Mandela Day, 18 July.
