Robbed in broad daylight

JOBURG - Police have warned residents to be especially careful when parking their cars at shopping centres.

Security personnel and car guards at shopping centres have been urged to be more vigilant as the police have seen an increase in theft out of motor vehicles.

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale police said on the afternoon of 14 July a woman parked her car at a local shopping centre. She alighted from the vehicle and went inside to do her shopping but when she returned she found that the quarter glass of her car window had been broken.

The woman realised that her belongings, which were on her car seat had been taken. “The woman’s items were stolen in broad daylight but the security and car guards didn’t see a thing,” Muthan said.
