WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES: Abused dogs shock SPCA staff

SANDTON - The Sandton SPCA has expressed shock following the discovery of abused animals in Marlboro.

According to their website, in two separate incidents in the early hours of the morning, two dogs were pulled under the gates of their residences and savagely hacked by an unknown attacker. The attacker was attempting to break into the premises of the pet owners.

Unfortunately the extent of the damage caused by these attacks was so horrific that neither of these dogs could be saved, despite the best efforts of the SPCA’s vet and teams.

This is both traumatic for the owner’s of these dogs as well as the staff at the SPCA.

“We would like to urge people to please be alert in all areas as burglars have now become extremely vengeful and have moved on to these severe measures to enter your property and your pet could fall victim to this terrible type of attack,” said a statement on the association’s website. “We would advise that if possible you keep your pets inside at night or at least away from main entry points where this kind of attack could easily happen.”
