Pikitup has ‘no pride in their work’

SANDTON - Residents are just not impressed with Pikitup’s lack of service delivery in their respective communities.

Rivonia resident Chantal Braid said, “From my experience, Pikitup recycling staff are rude, arrogant and have no pride in their work. Empty paper bags are left all over the street.”

Braid added that Pikitup refuse collection teams leave rubbish in the street and she has to regularly sweep it up. “It’s also too much trouble for them to close the bin lids when they are done,” said Braid.

She also said that Pikitup’s refuse removal charges are going to increase soon. “We are not likely to see a rebate from the recycling paper collected,” she added.

No comment was received from Pikitup in time of publication.

Hillary Wynne, a Morningside resident said, “We put out our [bag for] recycling paper and our refuse to be collected. The bag of recycling paper was collected but the bag was not returned to us,” said Wynne. She said the refuse bag was also collected but the bag with other recycling materials inside it was not.

“I left it out in the hopes that someone would eventually collect it but when I got home, the bag had been ripped open, the glass items removed and the plastic left on the ground,” explained Wynne.

She said Pikitup’s recycling collection system is not working. “I will not put out recycling until I have heard from them with details,” she added.
