Dramatic increase in theft out of motor vehicles

SANDTON - A number of cases of theft out of a motor vehicle have been reported at the Bramley Police Station.

This according to Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley Police. He said there were incidents of theft in Marlboro and Illovo recently.

“A man from Marlboro received a phone call from his neighbour informing him that someone was in his yard stealing,” explained Maphakela.

He said the man arrived at his home and found that his car battery had been stolen. “A wheelbarrow and jumper cables were also stolen,” added Maphakela.

He said another man in Illovo had parked his vehicle at the post office and he had items stolen from inside his vehicle. Maphakela said the man had his wallet, sunglasses and a picnic set stolen from his Hyundai.

“Everyone needs to make sure that their vehicles are locked at all times,” said Maphakela.

No arrests have been made.
