International Women’s Forum South Africa kicks off in Sandton

SANDTON - Women in leadership gathered for a discussion aimed at showcasing the African perspective.

The International Women’s Forum South Africa (IWFSA) hosted a prestigious conference at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The conference took place on 18 and 19 June where a number of women from various industries engaged in meaningful discussions. Thando Ntsinde on behalf of IWFSA said, “South African women in leadership have heeded the call to be the change they wanted to see in the world. This initiative is in the spirit of celebrating 20 years of democracy in South Africa.

“This forms part of the Africa Women’s Decade activities and will expose African women leaders to the International Women’s Forum (IWF), prior to the IWF Global Cornerstone Conference in 2015 which will also be hosted by IWFSA.”

The theme for the conference this year was Africa Rising: Setting an Inclusive Agenda, which recognises Africa’s recent growth.

The main idea of the conference was to direct dialogue towards setting a comprehensive programme aimed at expanding and sustaining improvements towards African current issues.

Some of the main speakers included the forum’s past presidents, Naledi Pandor, Bridgitte Radebe and Dr Namane Magau. Other guest speakers were the South African Reserve Bank Governor, Gill Marcus, Botswana’s Reserve Bank Governor, Linah Mohohlo, Ghana Investment Promotion chief executive officer, Mawuena Trebarh and Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi of the Africa Development Bank.
