Man assaults woman in front of child

MARLBORO - A woman was assaulted by a man in front of her six-year-old daughter in Marlboro.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley Police said the suspect went to the woman’s house to declare his love for her.

“When the complainant said she does not love him, he threatened her and her children,” said Maphakela.

He added that the man then exposed his private parts to the children, threatened to rape the mother and tossed a spoon at the woman’s six-year-old daughter. “The spoon hit the child on the forehead,” said Maphakela.

“The man grabbed the complainant but she managed to run away,” explained Maphakela. However, Maphakela said the man then gave chase and caught the woman and he beat her. “The complainant was helped by her sister and the man ran away,” said Maphakela.

He added that the man had allegedly threatened the woman before.

An investigation is still underway.
