Run and braai challenge was a success

BENMORE - Varsity College Sandton athletes took part in the South African Pork Kwaai Challenge.

Randburg Harriers Running Club hosted the challenging road race. Dalida Marchi, a parent of one of the athletes said the team’s captain, Angela Haralambous, and fellow athletes Marlin Zuze and Siphelo Mtuse all completed the 10km race in good time.

She said Edward Menong and Mthokozifi Mpofu also successfully completed the 5km race. “The athletes said that some of the up hills were really tough but it was a very enjoyable race,” she said.

Marchi said the Varsity College team also entered the inter-club braai competition sponsored by Eskort. “Molebogeng Phago set up the Varsity College braai site and assisted with the delicious food that was presented to the judges including running gurus Bruce Fordyce and Nick Bester, 7de Laan actors and one of the Idols winners,” said Marchi.

She added that everyone feasted on the various dishes presented by the various teams. “Kudos to the Varsity College runners and Ranburg Harriers Running Club as well as Eskort for an entertaining and well-organised event.”
