This tournament has been in existence since 1998 and is played in memory of sports mad King Edward old boy, Wade Foster. Foster embodied the spirit and qualities with regard to sport that the school attempts to inculcate in their young boys.
After a brief, but brave struggle against cancer, Foster succumbed to the illness. This year would have been Foster’s 10th matric year reunion. St. David’s has a proud record in this keenly contested tournament, and have won the trophy numerous times in the past. The U11 boys displayed determination, persistence, toughness and good team work and beat St. John’s 4-0, The Ridge 1-0, King Edward Preparatory School 1-0 and drew with Cliff View 0-0 to win the trophy.
Each of the boys was also presented with a small soccer figurine and a McDonald’s meal. The boys were reminded about the things that were important in life and that it was a privilege to be young, carefree and playing football.
