Incomplete park clean-up leaves a mess

MORNINGSIDE - The Outspan Bird Sanctuary and Park has finally been cleaned up.

This after the article, Sanctuary’s neglect, week ending 2 May in which resident Daphne Schwab complained that City Parks was doing a poor job at looking after the park.

Schwab, a member of Ward 103 councillor, Vincent Earp’s community forum, under the environment and infrastructure portfolio said she spoke on behalf of all the community members that were disgusted by the poor condition of the park.

She said the park was a mess and a disgrace. Schwab has since been impressed by the City Parks team and their efforts to cut the grass at the park. “We were able to have a fairly pleasant walk over the weekend with the dogs,” she added.

“However, the branches that have been hacked off with choppers have now been thrown into the river,” she said. “These need to be collected and the grass needs to be swept up as new growth will die.”

Vava Tulwana of City Parks said he would follow up and provide feedback.
