Sandton residents tell of voting experiences

SANDTON - So far, all seems to be going smoothly with voting in Sandton.

According to comments received on the Sandton Chronicle’s Blackberry group, voting in Sandton seems to be going to plan.

Dj Thuulzy said that he had cast his vote without problems, and sent us a wonderful picture of his marked thumb.

Hardbody commented this morning that he had already cast his vote. “Cast already and it was good and awesome,” said Hardbody.

Maestro commented that he was thankful to Madiba for his right to vote. “I voted. It was my first time voting, all thanks to Tata Madiba.”

Carol commented that her voting experience was also quite easy. “The whole thing took little over an hour – not too bad at all.”

Robbie said that the line moved so quickly that it was not even necessary to try to sit down, despite having taken chairs along for just in case.

The one hiccup seemed to be at the Bryaneven Primary Voting Station where the scanners to confirm voter registration and manage the voter’s roll were not functioning. However IEC officials were quick of the mark to rectify this. They split the the station into three substations that handled voters alphabetically according to surname. Voters were then manually ticked off the list. Despite the delay things were quickly returned to normal.
