Wine legend heads to Sandton

SANDTON - Highly acclaimed wine writer, judge and commentator, Robert Joseph, will make an appearance at The Wine Show Joburg in Sandton.

The show will take place from 8 to 10 May at the Sandton Convention Centre. Visitors to the show will be in for a treat as Joseph’s wine knowledge is extensive and his credentials seemingly endless.

Some of Joseph’s notable career highlights are said to include becoming a wine writer for the Sunday Telegraph in 1983. He has also written various books including The Ultimate Encyclopaedia of Wine, The K.I.S.S Guide to Wine and the Robert Joseph Good Wine Guide, which won the Best Wine Guide in the World in 2002. He has chaired more than 50 wine competitions worldwide, he regularly appears on television and radio overseas, and was a winner at the World Food Media Awards for increasing the appreciation of wine throughout the world.

Joseph is a big fan of South African wines and will use his time at the show to hold tutored tastings in the Wine Extra Theatre, in-between indulging in tastings with some of the best wine producers that South Africa has to offer, before letting everyone in on some of his favourites. One of the most exciting events will be when he chooses his best local wines to feature in a segment he calls South African Tastes of the Future. Visitors to the shows will receive expert insight into what wine and wine styles are likely to be their favourite future tipples.
