Easter fun at Varsity College

SANDTON - It was all fun and games at Varsity College when 20 children of Afrika Tikkun visited the Sandton campus in search of Easter eggs.

Afrika Tikkun is a non-government and non-profit organisation based in Alexandra, and it cares for vulnerable children and orphans in the townships. Students of Varsity College dedicated an afternoon to the children, and entertained them with face painting, games and an Easter egg hunt. The children were also treated with lunch from KFC.

Joining in the fun and games with the children were Varsity College’s community engagement group, VC Cares and the finalists for Mr and Miss Varsity College Sandton Fashion Show 2014. The children were then accompanied by the students on the hunt for Easter eggs through the campus courtyard and staff offices.

The college handed over gift packs to the children and boxes of Easter eggs to the marketing assistant of Afrika Tikkun, Taina Lubner. “This Easter egg hunt was a delightful experience for the children and it was also great to see young people getting involved with initiatives like these,” said Vasanthee Govender, the student services manager for Varsity College Sandton Campus.
