Police arrest two suspects in Marlboro

MARLBORO - Two suspects aged 26 and 31 were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm by the Bramley police in Marlboro.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police said the police received a tip-off from a community member living in Marlboro Gardens. Maphakela said the tip-off came from a woman who informed the police that she lived next door to three suspicious looking men.

“The police went to Marlboro Gardens and identified two of the men,” said Maphakela. “They approached them and instructed them to stop and place their hands above their heads.”

He said the police found a loaded 9mm black and brown firearm with 16 live rounds after searching them.

“The police asked for a firearm licence but the suspects failed to produce one,” said Maphakela. He added that the suspects were taken to the Bramley Police Station. “They have been detained at the police station for further investigations,” said Maphakela.
