Criminal hotspots cause for concern

SANDTON - The Bramley police have issued a warning on criminal hotspots in the Sandton area.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police said the corner of Grayston Drive and Katherine Street in Sandton was a robbery hotspot. “A number of cases regarding theft out of a vehicle as well as smash-and-grab have been reported to the police,” he said.

Maphakela added, “Pedestrians travelling in that area are also being targeted. Some have reported their handbags and cellphones stolen in that area.” He said the Grayston Drive on and off-ramps have become a criminal hotspot as well.

“We are appealing to the community to be mindful of those areas,” said Maphakela. “Drivers must secure their vehicles and their belongings. We are doing everything we can to catch the suspects. The police are monitoring those areas with extra caution and a marked vehicle patrols the area.”
