Domestic watch on holiday season safety

SANDTON - The theme for the upcoming Domestic Watch meetings in March will be safety over the holiday season.

According to facilitator Penny Steyn, this topic was important with all the upcoming holidays in the next two months.

“We definitely need to take a very good look at this topic because many [domestic workers and gardeners] are going to be left to take care of the properties as homeowners will be travelling.”

The meeting will be filled with important and relevant information when crime tends to peak. Steyn will inform workers that their employers were obliged to empower them to take care of themselves and the owners’ homes in their absence.

Steyn added that Brigadier Alan Billings of the Sandton Police Station had already warned householders and businesses of the anticipated escalation of crime over the Easter holidays.

Details of the meetings can be found on Sandton Chronicle’s events page.
