Contractor adds to problems on Coleraine Drive

RIVERCLUB - A RESIDENT exposed bad workmanship on Coleraine Drive in Riverclub.

This after new fencing was erected to close off traffic on Coleraine Drive after a portion of the road collapsed. The resident who does not wish to be named said, “I was horrified to see that the workmen only add to the problem on Coleraine Drive. There is no consideration for the already overworked drainage systems by stuffing all their fencing waste down the road’s drains. This is not to mention the environmental and safety impact of all the discarded bits of wire fencing, and plastic into our rivers.”

Bertha Peters-Scheepers, spokesperson for the Johannesburg Roads Agency said, “The situation is unfortunate and we wish to reassure the community that the roads agency has taken immediate action with the contractor to finalise work and for the all debris and fencing material to be cleared.

“We apologise for the impact on the area and wish to reassure you that we have once again highlighted the roads agency’s expectations to the contractor in terms of work ethics, quality of work and environmental and safety impact.”
